Disappointment! Our heat was having trouble firing. I have an annual contract with UGI HomeServe and in the past have been fairly pleased with getting appointment right away and the service...however this time, first tech showed and said flame sensor dirty. He cleaned and out the door in 5min. Heat still having intermittent issues so another tech out two days later. He gave me an overview of gas not reaching through pipe efficienty bc furnace old. Said flame should be entirely blue and not orange flicker. He said I need an entirely new furnace and while at it replace central air. The orange flame is natural with air flow and gas is not entirely pure I found out via HVAC friend. I called a reputable service and he replaced the sensor for $130. Heat working fine. Homeserve seems to be in the business of pushing new product rather than a detailed analysis and troubleshoot. I even mentioned UGI sent ad for $99mo plan and he was quick to say, oh no, we offer much better product and financing. Needless to say I had to pay for my contract $340/yr and pay a separate business to fix the issue.
My furnace stopped working on Christmas eve. I called Homeserve at 11:30am and at 1:30pm they were at my place. In less than a hour everything was working and because I had insurance it didn't cost me anything. Great service!
We are extremely disappointed that the issue is not resolved. We had an HVAC system installed on 06/05/2025. We turned on the furnace 10/15/2025 and there was a loud noise. Home Serve was here 5 times over a 3 week period and the issue has not been resolved. It was a sloppy installation that Home Serve cleaned up, but the noise still exists. A HUGE issue dealing with Home Serve is when we call, we are told someone will call us back in 24-48 hours, but a week goes by and we hear nothing. My husband has spent countless hours on hold trying to get answers. We are getting no where. This was a brand new installation and we had expected more. Unless something drastically happens and our system is repaired, we would not recommend Home Serve to anyone.
