We hired Norm to come and do a couple jobs around the house. TL; DR: The quality of the work itself was fine and we have no complaints about that, but the communication could have definitely been better. My husband called Norm to discuss various projects and set up an appointment. First, getting through to Norm was a bit tough. After trying to get through for a couple days, he managed to get through and discuss the projects, though no appointment was set since Norm was driving at the time. My husband later texted Norm and had a few back-and-forths to discuss the projects further and set up an appointment time. On the morning of the appointment, Norm was supposed to come at 9am. When he hadn't shown up by 9:20, my husband texted him. Norm texted immediately back saying that he had had a computer problem and lost all his contact information. He did come out after that discussion. The first project we wanted done went smoothly (hanging bikes in the garage) - my husband and Norm discussed various options, pros and cons, and the final product looked nice and of good quality. It did seem to take a long time (an hour and a half), but I'm not sure how long this sort of project should have taken to begin with. In either case, we are happy with the outcome. The second project went fine too (cleaning our dryer vents), though again, I think communication here could have been better. Although my husband had discussed cleaning the vents a few times with Norm before the appointment date, it was only at our home that he mentioned that he didn't have the correct tools to thoroughly clean vents. Nevertheless, he did the best he could with the tools he had. Overall, we were happy with the outcome. My husband had also discussed possibly replacing the dryer vent. Before coming to our house, Norm had gone to Home Depot to purchase a vent option to try out. When it became apparent that the new vent wouldn't work as well as our current setup, he was willing to just return the part. From start to finish, Norm was at our house around 2 1/4 hours, but he rounded down the time to 2 hours since he was late. At the end of the day, I think the hourly rate was fair for the service performed. We are happy with quality of the jobs he did, and he also had a few additional helpful comments for things he saw around the house. Communication could have been better. All in all, we would recommend Norm.
