Unfortunately I can corroborate other views here that Christian HVAC is quick to recommend full system replacement without doing much inspection/diagnosis. One of their techs (who was perfectly friendly) came by a couple of times to check out an intermittent heating issue on our admittedly older system, but he only looked at things for a few minutes before suggesting our choices were either $4500 to replace individual components, or a $12-22k whole-system replacement. Wanting a second opinion, we found a local independent guy who took the time to disassemble, inspect, and clean the affected components. With less than an hour's work, he cleaned a dirty sensor, cleared an obstruction in some tubing, and restored function to the system--and charged only a bit more than the $100 consultation fee we paid to Christian. While our communication experience with Christian was fine (in contrast to the several reviews about poor responsiveness here), it feels like the company aims to guide customers into high-dollar sales rather than methodically troubleshooting an issue.
Due to an attic insulation removal and install, lighting wires were cut and/or damaged. Javier (friendly and professional) initially came and accessed the situation. He knew that he couldn't complete the job then because photos and more equipment were needed. He passed it on to Jordan who came the next day. He was friendly and professional. He was able to complete the job. Not only that, he noticed another problem concerning the ducts from HVAC. He was able to get a colleague to come and assess that problem that if it was not addressed, it would have been harmful to me and my family. I really appreciated that. And he cleaned up after himself.
Sales-first, not service-focused. Would not recommend for maintenance or diagnostics. We have a 4-year-old upstairs heating system and a service membership with Christian. After a power outage, the unit stopped working, so we called for service. The technician got it running, but told us the system was “installed poorly,” the heat pump wasn’t working efficiently, and suggested it likely needed major repairs or full replacement. We later received quotes including a complete new system for nearly $30,000. He dismissed our question about the thermostat/WiFi connection possibly affecting operation. After he left, I checked the thermostat myself and found it was reading 43°F outside when the actual temperature was 15°F. Because of that, the system was incorrectly running the heat pump outside its operating range. Once I reconnected the thermostat to WiFi so it could pull the correct weather data, the system immediately began working normally and has had zero issues since. In other words, this appears to have been a simple thermostat/configuration problem — not a failing system or poor installation. Separately, when we tried to schedule follow-up service and cancel our membership, we experienced multiple unreturned emails and calls during normal business hours and had to escalate to management. Our experience felt heavily sales-oriented rather than service-oriented. We expected troubleshooting and support, not replacement quotes.
