Charter Oak Mechanical installed my replacement central air in 2024, and I've since used them for all my heating and AC maintenance. Charter Oak Mechanical came to my home for a routine air conditioning maintenance visit. During their service, the condenser fan motor failed on a relatively new unit (only 7 years old). Since then, I’ve been left without air conditioning during a severe New England heatwave. At the time of the incident, an apprentice was cleaning the outside unit unsupervised while the lead technician was working on the air handlers inside. Shortly after, the condenser fan motor broke down. This raises serious concerns about oversight and professionalism during the visit. When the issue occurred, the owner personally called me, empathized with my situation, and said he would try to help. I appreciated that gesture and hoped it signaled a commitment to resolving the matter. Unfortunately, I’ve been unable to reach him since. The receptionist and service manager have not connected me with him, nor have they provided clear or honest updates. What’s been most disappointing is the attitude I’ve encountered from staff. I’m not sure how customer-friendly or helpful they intend to be until this is resolved. The lack of transparency and responsiveness during a time of real discomfort has been frustrating. I’m still hoping Charter Oak steps up and delivers the service and accountability customers deserve. I will update this review based on how the situation progresses.
