My pilot light kept going out on my water heater so I filed a claim with my home warranty company (American Home Shield). There were only 2 options & this one had better reviews than the other. Tech came out on a Friday, relit the pilot without issue. He turned it off again as he said the burner plates needed to be cleaned. He cleaned them, lit pilot & left. By Monday, the pilot was out again & there was a faint smell of gas in my garage. PG&E came out, said there was a minor leak like maybe a bolt just needed to be replaced but nothing major or dangerous. They also said the burner plates might need to be replaced as they were old (water heater is old). I reopened my claim & the plumber said they'd come back but couldn't get to me for another 5 days. I was angry of course because your tech was just here & didn't fix the issue, so silly me for thinking they'd come back sooner. The same tech came back, I told him what PG&E said, gave him the paper from PG&E saying what they found & his response was "no, they're wrong." The tech took everything apart, put it back together & said "your unit is just old & needs replacement." He submitted a work order to the warranty company who said his recommendation would require me to pay $1,900 out of pocket as I needed my gas line replaced, the permits, etc. On top of that, the smell of gas was EVEN STRONGER THAN BEFORE. I called a completely diff. plumber to come out, paid out of pocket for him to look at it, & he said there was a part on the front that wasn't properly fitted which was causing the gas to seep out in the air. He replaced the one part & my water heater has worked just fine ever since. Pilot hasn't gone out again, no gas smell, water is hot as heck. That was 3 weeks ago! So I only ended up spending $200 as opposed to the $1,900 this company told me I'd need to spend to fix the issue. Don't use this company as at least one of their techs is a darn scam artist who tried to hustle me.
Our water heater recently failed and flooded our garage. Advanced plumbing was the vendor assigned by our home warranty company. They were very responsive, setting initial appointment same day,. The plumber Rafael, called ahead, showed up on time and quickly provided the needed estimate to the warranty company. He capped off our water line so we would at least have cold water while we waited for approval. Once Advanced received the needed authorization, they quickly rescheduled us. Rafael came back to complete the job, installing the water heater, and the required upgrades to bring our installation up to code. He also installed a drip pan with a drain line to help reduce the chance of water damage, should we ever have a leek in the future. Rafael was professional, skilled, and communicative. I appreciated his service, and the office staff at Advanced Plumbing 🪠
Was very happy with the service these guys provided. They are communicative and helpful. David was awesome and a pleasure to have out at our house. Very diligent and hard working. I appreciated how genuine and kind he was throughout the water heater replacement process.
