A-Best Painting Contractors

I hired A-Best Painting Contractors to paint my home and would rate my overall experience as average. Pros: The company was communicative and flexible, especially during several unforeseen delays with my home remodeling. Jimmy, the owner, was polite and always arrived on the dates and times promised. Alexyz, who handled the scheduling and calls, was consistently prompt and attentive. Cons: Unfortunately, the quality of work did not align with their slogan, “We do it right the first time.” There were many missed areas that required follow-up, including half-painted pipes, uncaulked holes, and surfaces that could have been better prepped and smoothed. Some areas were left half painted, while others that did not need to be painted were smeared or marked. The painters also failed to paint the back patio’s metal ceiling due to miscommunication, even though I had instructed them to paint it white. There were visible drip marks and uneven finishes that were blamed on the semi-gloss paint. However, the semi-gloss finish was recommended to me by Alexyz, as I had no prior knowledge of paint finishes and specifically asked her for guidance since they are the professionals. I explained that I had no preference for any particular finish and expected their expertise to help me understand the options and what would best suit my home. That kind of informed direction is what I would reasonably expect from a professional company. Jimmy even admitted that he had hesitations about the semi-gloss finish and double-checked with Alexyz to confirm what was selected. If he had concerns, why did he not call me directly as the business owner to discuss them? Instead, the team later denied their recommendation, blamed the issues on the paint finish, and implied that I had chosen it myself so I had to deal with MY decision. While they did return a 2nd time and made an effort to correct several of the issues, which did somewhat improve the results compared to the first attempt, the experience during my walk-through with Jimmy was frustrating. As I pointed out the defects, he repeatedly told me that my expectations were “unreasonable” and higher than what they could deliver. For nearly every concern I raised, there was a rebuttal that shifted blame onto me or the house rather than addressing the workmanship directly. I would have appreciated if Jimmy had taken the time to explain in detail why certain expectations could not be achieved, instead of quickly blaming the paint finish and ultimately calling me a liar for stating that the semi-gloss was recommended by his own team. I did not feel that they truly wanted to make me happy as a client, but rather that they just wanted to be done with the job. While I value their punctuality and communication, the lack of accountability and commitment to customer satisfaction left me disappointed, especially given their promise to “get it done right the first time.”

I received numerous quotes on the home and their price was very reasonable for the area. A Best did a fantastic job getting our home done quickly, while working around our schedule.
